It was us - that's the key thing. And we weren't big donors to Kennedy or LBJ. Actually I think those were the first Democratic party members my dad's father gave money to. He flipped back to Republican (many black men that COULD vote that were born in the deep South at the turn of the last century were Republicans with good reason) in 1968. Then Carter - Democratic - then he died.

It was when we made things uncomfortable and didn't back down - when we didn't even have the most basic right to vote - when our dads could be sent off to Korea and Vietnam to get shot and killed - but couldn't vote while home on leave (my dad back in Alabama in 1964) - We made it happen. WithOUT money. Without representation in the government or state houses. Without a vote -

We made it happen.

The only way we will make it happen NOW - is if we remember the Cell Phone is now mightier than the gun. And remember to keep reaching down and giving those left behind a hand up. And bring our cell phones to the polls. I think in 2016 we are going to be severely challenged - and that should be priority number one in regards to black Americans that white liberals/progressives need to concern themselves with.

If they disenfranchise just a few thousand - Clinton, Sanders, O'Malley, Webb - no one is gonna win.
