(10,715 posts)...come to think of it, even chimpanzees have little use for anarchy in their societies. We have laws, we have customs, traditions, guidelines, expectations, and so forth. Imagining that things would improve if we did not is a mistake. Back in 1900 or so there was such a problem with inequality that the rule of law and government itself was seen as "the problem", but we have come a long way since then.
If inequality is the problem, the answer is good government, not no government. Anarchy ignores human nature, and fails miserably in the real world. Not to dismiss or disrespect the good intentions of writers long passed, but I think it is almost always a mistake to look to the old dead to solve our current problems. Circumstances change, and their thinking cannot.
