... in my district at the time. And this was before ballot counting issues were resolved in that race. But since local judges couldn't "appeal" actions at a federal level that Hastert took, that decision of Hastert's couldn't be appealed in court.

I'll also be happy to see him get squashed down a bit more.

EDIT: Also note that Randy Duke Cunningham was rumored to have some gay affairs despite pushing anti-gay legislations too. I wonder if that factored in to Hastert wanting to get him replaced quickly at the time then too, given his "other" behavior?
