The term libertarian gets a really bad rap, partly due to people like Ron Paul... but it spans both parties, the way I used it. As I said, this is not your traditional my party or your party, but a political science definition. The third largest party in the United Staes, is the Libertarian party. Their right flank dominates. but they have a lot of people who believe in them in the far left. Like in things like the end of the war on drugs. That is a libertarian position. So is a strict respect for the 4th and 5th amendment, and the 1st.
hell, if I were to get very technical, people misuse the term progressive regularly as well... since historic progressives, like Teddy Roosevelt were Republicans. So when you look at the progressive era and who was what, and who called themselves progressives... the same thing happens with Libertarians. The actual philosophy spans way, wwwaaayyy more people than just one party.
