I don't post here often enough that I would feel comfortable pointing out those who somehow were the exceptions to the banhammer rule, but they came to mind when I saw the post about Skip.

Banning a member should be a policy that should be applied as consistently as possible, especially when it concerns longtime DUers. Not excusing Skip in the least -- but surely there are other penalties to try before absolutely, positively kicking him off?

(And what is the point of having any kind of ban if eventually people come back? Make it a timeout, suspension, or something -- but don't call it a ban. "Banning" implies permanency. All the more reason to take a step back and really consider if it's the right decision before it's done.)

I'll go back to my corner now.
