(60,984 posts)This is an event that should be seen as celebratory. You are right that there will be plenty of issue threads where anyone should be able to respond.
On some other day, it might be good to try to engage with the broader DU population to try to speak to what is bashing, what it is genuine discussion of an issue. To me, I've seen some on the Clinton side arguing that ANY comment that is the least bit critical or even neutral on HRC is an unfair attack -- and the poster I was going back and forth with was arguing that there was no comparable "attack" by them on Sanders. I pointed to comments on the Sanders' kick off -- but never got him(her ?) to admit that they were negative and insensitive.
I am so happy you are making an appeal that all of us refrain from any negative comments.
This event should have some awesome views of Manhattan from the island and the park itself. The theme of FDR should be interesting and it is sad that, given the 4 freedoms were articulated so long ago by a President who was so popular, that they are still not reality. (By the way, Hunter College owns the NYC townhouse that the young Franklin and Eleanor were given by his mother on the upper east side of NYC and their tours of the home are very interesting. My husband and I went to it earlier this year.)
This event, like Bernie's was, is designed to define the campaign. Both have amazing backdrops that mean a lot to the candidates. This should be a great day for the HRC and her supporters and it should be. Many have waited for a long time for this event.
