In reply to the discussion: Meet the *Real* Enemy [View all]NanceGreggs
(27,835 posts)... is now, always has been, and ever shall be the Republican Party.
I realize that over the past few years, that fact has become lost on DU. On any given day, there are more anti-Dem posts than there are anti-GOP posts.
While the Republicans continue to wage war on women's rights, voters' rights, GLBT rights, non-Christians' rights, minorities' rights, the poor, the sick, the dying, and the imprisoned, DU has become a hotbed of debate as to which Democrat is more to blame for the country's woes than the other.
Such posts are not meant to be enlightening, productive, nor a catalyst for honest debate and discussion. They serve one purpose: to distract Democrats from the REAL enemy, while encouraging them to fight amongst themselves instead.
DEMOCRATS are not proposing legislation that replaces science texts with The Bible. They are not fighting against a woman's right to choose. They are not fighting for voter ID laws that will disenfranchise minorities, nor are they championing the prohibition of same-sex marriage.
There is, however, an entire political PARTY that is hell-bent on doing all of that - and more.
While the GOP goes about its plans to move the country back to the 19th Century, some folks are less interested in the advancement of those plans than they are determining who looks better in a corset and bustle.
Obama is the enemy! Pelosi is the enemy! Hillary is the enemy! Sanders is the enemy! The (D) in rural Wisconsin in the enemy! The (D) in inner-city Chicago is the enemy! And the Democrat who doesn't pass the DU purity test is DEFINITELY THE ENEMY!
I KNOW who the REAL ENEMY is - but I thank you for your, uh - concern.
