(114,904 posts)Republicans are decidedly one of those real enemies. So is corporate influence and power and the revolving door between government and corporations and entities that exist to expand "corporate" rights. You reference voting rights and republicans, but corporations are every bit as much of a threat in that regard. ALEC, for instance is a front for corporations. Corporations may support LGBT rights, but they don't, as a whole, support voting rights. They don't want more voters- particularly minority voters.
Some of us see corporate influence and power within the democratic party as a huge problem, effecting negatively, everything from the environment, environmental justice and action on climate change, to voting rights and access to health care and generic drugs to internet freedom and privacy, to regulations governing worker safety to pensions to the strength of unions.... and on and on.
In some cases, democrats are wrong. Sometimes flat wrong. Dangerously wrong. I support dems on issues where I believe they're right. I oppose them on issues where I believe they are wrong. It's that simple.
