Like George Carlin said, "Bipartisan usually means that a larger-than-usual deception is being carried out". Cynical as that is, it is true that extremely controversial bills usually need bipartisanship to pass.

The Republicans are moving forward because they are covering each others back. Once they're faced with being held solely responsible by their constituents, in their red districts, for passing "Obamatrade"; they will pause and reflect. Add to that having to vote for another government program that spends money on the unemployed, by taking money from Medicare .... wow, they better hope all the right wing pundits and rabble rousers are paid up in full by the TPP benefactors.
