Why the flag doesn't come down. It can't w/o an act of Assembly [View all]

According to Will Whitson, a reporter in Columbia SC who covers the state capitol... It can't be taken down.

1. He said he didn't think it was even on a pulley, so they probably can't even lower it
2. It requires a vote of the General Assembly
It is protected under the South Carolina Heritage Act of 2000.
The Act prevents the changing of parks, streets, etc without a vote of 2/3 of the state General Assembly

Isn't that special.
Though members of the Assembly did remove their Gadsen Flags off their desks out of respect for Sen. Pinckney
