(154,021 posts)cover anything but one story 24/7. There is more going on in the world. The word propaganda might be the wrong term, but I know exactly what he is saying. The media used to be able to chew gum and walk. It's so bad that when they do this, regardless of story, I start picking around the web to see what else they are not covering.
I find the about to happen, or happening ethnic cleansing in the Dominican Republic kind of important as well. I don't know about you, but a possible land war in Europe is kind of important. Perhaps the fires in California, not that we matter, should have mentioned...maybe the monster in Alaska. They matter even less.
Then there is the TPA vote in the house...
Media used to be able to do that. They used to be able to cover a few things with only an hour broadcast, later reduced to half an hour. They got 24 now and it is like one story...cannot do more than one.
Now you want that chestnut about propaganda fully developed inside crazy land, you can. But I was not insulted by the observation that our media is way too fixated on a single story which at this point is quite a bit of yes, speculation. They do this often, and I now always wonder what the fuck is really going on? And thankfully not the only one who does that.
This story matters, but not to the point of having media cover it exclusively.
One last thing. You should read Naomi Klein's "the shock doctrine." This was textbook.
