In reply to the discussion: Why does Team Hillary ALWAYS take the low road [View all]ieoeja
(9,748 posts)73. Because she is a major factor in the erosion of women's rights.
Working class Whites are largely racist, misogynistic and homophobic. Democrats used to win that demographic anyway because, while we strongly supported social justice, we also supported economic justice. As long as we supported economic justice, they were willing to accept the social justice. The result was steady progress on social issues.
When a DLC founder got elected President, Democrats were persuaded to go along with giving up economic justice. To counter that, the DLC started backing Democrats willing to compromise on social justice to appeal to working class Whites. On many occasions backing from third way Democrats helped a compromised Democrat edge out a liberal Democrat in the primary.
And Hillary Clinton was the president of the DLC backing Democrats weak on social justice. While she never does anything directly against social justice, she has helped others opposed to social justice achieve the power to undo the advances we have made. The result has been varied. Gays have achieved a lot of equality. But for women and African-Americans, the country has been back-sliding.
I do not get why anyone at DU would let her slide on this.

77% of sitting Democratic senators have endorsed HRC. Is she responsible for everything they say?

I didn't say you were being untruthful. I said you were confused. They aren't mutually exclusive.

Isn't that a rather parochial view, that we can only judge people of our own group?
