BBC News has reported the American dentist lion hunting story and they read out a statement that the dentist has just made in the US, claiming that he didn't know he was hunting a protected lion and how he was misled by the guides that organised the hunt, etc. etc. Not that we believe a word of it, but...

1. So fucking what? Protected lion or not he still forked out $55,000 to satisfy his sick, twisted bloodlust to kill a beautiful animal that was harming no one.

2. He has hunted illegally before and lied about it when caught. In 2008, he faced prison time and eventually was placed on probation after admitting to making a false statement to a federal agent in connection with his hunt of a black bear in Wisconsin. Palmer shot a black bear in 2006 about 40 miles outside the zone where he was licensed to hunt, and then lied about it to a U.S. Fish and Wildlife agent, claiming he shot it in the correct zone.
