(27,835 posts)... a year earlier, I didn't actually "join" and start posting in discussion threads until 2005.
My reluctance to join in the conversation was due to feeling out-of-my-league in terms of how much DUers knew about politics, how the gov' worked, etc. I was terrified of saying something totally ignorant of the facts, because everyone here knew so much more than I did.
Now I see things posted here that make me say WTF? on a regular basis. I can't believe how much misinformation is not only posted, but accepted as being factual. It's downright mind-boggling what passes for "accurate information" on a site that once boasted some of the most knowledgeable people engaging in discussion on political websites.
There was a time when reading DU was an education. Now it's just Sharks and Jets fighting over the local schoolyard - and it's devolved into the kind of edumaction that was once scoffed at as being the sole domain of dumber-than-shit Republicans.
