(57,808 posts)Who advance one right-wing argument after another, who work to exclude everyone but a privileged few--not coincidentally tied to race, class, and gender--from the body politic. While particular issues in the news come and go, a commitment to human equality, or lack thereof, is enduring. Progressive by is very definition means to move forward, yet we see cries to restore a past of the "real Democratic party," when the white upper-middle and middle-class prospered at the expense of the majority.
If opposition to the president's policies and the Democratic Party is an indicator of liberalism, that would make the Tea Party the most liberal of all. Of course it isn't, even though some so-called liberals or "progressives" target the very same groups for enmity that the Tea Party does.
