(96,882 posts)She chairs the Democratic National Committee and helps set broad Party goals. She raises money. She acts as a conduit between the President, the Party and it's major supporters (Unions, advocacy groups etc.) She occasionally acts as a spokesperson for the Party. She works to build up and support State Parties.
What she does NOT do is select candidates (that's left up to the DSCC, DCCC, DGA and DLCC). Or decide what the Party's position is on national Policy (to the extent that anyone does, it's the President). Or act as the sole voice for the Party (again, the President takes the lead).
The complain is that she "lost" the 2014 Election. Now, I'll concur that she didn't find a way to address the off-year turnout problem, but neither did her predecessors. Beyond that, what exactly did she do that was wrong?
