(3,660 posts)All have been vile regressive bigots on social issues who more importantly could save countless lives and unimaginable resources with one five minute ex cathedra statement, but refuse to do so. You'd think they'd understand sins of omission more than I do but it appears not.
The only pope I'd countenance as humane let alone admirable is the one who dons the metaphorical mantle of infallibility and says, in Latin natch, "we have gone forth and multiplied enough to fulfill God's command. Enough. Let us take steps to reduce our destruction of finite God-given resource by reducing population growth how we may."
If he wants admiration from rational folks, following that up with "God made us all equal as we are made, no matter what gender we are or what gender we love. All rights, protections, privileges and respect due to any of humanity are due to all humanity, with no exceptions" might do the trick.
Since that's as likely to happen as...well, my becoming Pope, I suspect the answer will stay "none".
