It looks to me like a lot of games I have seen with kids his age. They barely have the concepts of the game down. They sit down in the outfield and chase bugs. ALL of them may run for the ball when it's hit no matter what position they play.
Take your analysis and go away. He's a little kid. In addition, he wasn't saying " Did you like that Daddy?" "Was that okay?" He wanted to stop and tell him something important. And it WAS important.
