6. When our sons, now 22 and 25, started playing...

...park district soccer when they were each 5, we used to call it swarm soccer - wherever the ball was, the kids would be - all of them. No idea of field position or passing, as one would expect.

One year, there was a little girl on the team whose ADD meds were wearing off right about when practice or games would start. She would gaze up at the sky at clouds and airplanes, or pick clover flowers out of the grass. On that same team, there was a little boy who would, to his mother's distress, spend most of the games with his hand down the front of his shorts, amusing himself, so to speak.

Funny memories.
