(55,334 posts)Carson's been a big wig on the conservative Christian talk circuit for many many years. That's how he got to be so good at all the dog-whistle language that attracts the fundamentalist support without freaking out the mainstream Republicans who just don't quite get how a daring, almost heroic, surgeon for all his healing talents is otherwise qualified to run a complex democracy and its economic empire.
But the fundamentalists who are his core support have only met the Clark Kentish brain surgeon. He says he used to be violent, he used to be dangerous and thuggish on the mean streets of Detroit. There's zero indication of this aggressiveness in his character today. His stage persona in debates & political speeches is just a hair above drowsy. What on earth could have gotten so many good Christian heartlanders to believe he was so different from now before he was "born again"?
What elusive characteristic of Dr. Carson is it makes certain people just blindly accept that he could have once been such a violent, almost bestial, thug in his younger days? Hmmm... I wonder...
