Would you call a three chord song "insipid" just because it had three chords? A very large number of pop songs have been written with only three chords, I-IV-V to be technical about it. It forms the basis for what is called a boogie beat as well.
Mozart and Schubert wrote classic melodies with three chords and they are still performed every day around the world. And those tunes are not considered insipid merely because they have simple chord structures.
Just because someone makes a song I don't particularly like means I have to get mad about it. There are a lot of bands and genres I can't stand musically, but I don't tell people they shouldn't listen to them.
I don't give a damn whether or not you like Justin Bieber or anyone else. It doesn't affect my life. Kind of like professional sports. I don't give a rat's ass about sports of any kind, college or professional.
