David J. Rosen, the Legislatures veteran budget analyst, is a cautious, silver-haired technocrat who prefers to stay in the background until summoned by lawmakers to share his forecasts for the states fiscal future.
Governor Christies spokesman says comments made by Christie that seem over the top are simply responses to over- the-top criticism.
But last Wednesday, a clearly irritated Governor Christie tagged him as the Legislatures Dr. Death, the bearer of a gloomy revenue report that threatened to kill Christies promised income tax cut.
So they [Democrats] needed to call in the Dr. Kevorkian of the numbers, Christie said to a group of transportation industry officials, referring to the Michigan doctor convicted of second-degree murder for assisting patients to commit suicide. Why would anyone with a functioning brain believe this guy?

Christie deflects trouble by scalding his critics or messengers who bring bad news with a sensational, made-for-YouTube remark. Make those critics, those who challenge him, the topic of controversy, not the governor. Put their name or their unflattering new nickname in the headlines.
