(45,984 posts)The Democrats are already a two party system all by themselves.
After the clown car drives over the cliff, Thelma and Louise style, the only thing holding progressives to the Democratic Party (fear of Republicans) is no longer a factor. I don't feel wanted in Rahm Emanuel's party, do you? I don't have Stockholm syndrome and don't want to stay in a relationship with someone who calls me a "retard." Do you? How did you feel when you were called a racist for opposing NSA spying? The same set of principles that draw progressives to support Amnesty International or oppose totalitarian-like intrusion into the lives of private citizens everywhere also draw us to support BLM.
I'm not suggesting that we break with the Democratic Party in this election cycle. I'd like to be able to hold together with the Democratic Party establishment long enough to see the see the GOP swept into the dust bin of history.
However, I will always support humanist principles over corporatism and continue to decry the Democratic Party's mad march to embrace an institutionally corrupt alliance with cold artificial persons over what is made of warm flesh and blood.
