Unfortunately, DU has gotten to me and I usually end up making snarky comments because it is preaching to the choir, like you said, and it's more preaching, and it's more preaching....and if you don't preach the right stuff, you get banned.
Doable means we need republicans on board. I don't see how we pass legislation without them, or how we get rid of/drastically reduce gun violence without them. It's the same with some important Repub issue (e.g. business incentives, taxes, defense)...they can't do much without us.
To be frank, I think developing a self defense alternative to firearms would do more to get guns off the street than a resource intensive legislative battle that could be for nothing or only temporary and minuscule gains.
Your ideas? I am sincerely listening (or reading).
