I didn't bother to transfer when I moved to Maine, and now in NYC...well, I *do* regularly carry $1500-5000 between restaurants so maybe?
But yes. Nationwide "may deny" FOID/permit to purchase a la Connecticut (where I grew up and got one, it's no big deal!), mandatory FFL transfers (a 4473 is not registration per se, but it is a chain of custody), safe storage, and a lot more are fine by me.
Though to be clear, NOT an AWB or any hardware restrictions in particular - AR-15s are as legal as any other rifle across most of Europe (NOT the Commonwealth, do not mix them up!) and yet they don't have mass shootings.
