that is a pure Libertarian talking point. I have argued about it with real life Libertarians. They are so anti-government, they don't believe society even exists. There should be no collective. Thus they don't get the difference between our country supporting something as a country, or with taxes, and personally doing a thing.

They will argue you should be willing to have the homeless in your home. They often emphasis you, as in that thread. YOU should do it then (because they don't want to or to have their precious tax money - which they think of as "theft" from them - used in any way to help the homeless). Ayn Rand talking point -she said that you are free to help anyone else, but no one should be "forced" to by a law.
