The Heer branch of the Wehrmacht wore that on their buckle, which had been worn by Germanic armies (Prussian, Bavarian, etc) for a few decades. The various branches of the SS wore one that roughly said "my honor is called loyalty."

And please remember that in that war, the few people who created war on each side was a cheerleader for the same God to kill young kids. Yankees, Brits, French, Italians, Japanese, Russians, Latvians, Polish, et al all prayed for their side. Like a goddamn football match. Interestingly enough, that Bastard God upstairs listened to all and made sure there was enough death and destruction to answer all their prayers.
