(63,172 posts)I posted a similar question in April 2015, in fact, and I most certainly was not calling Sanders "a commie Jew." Neither is Cyrano.
Why is the question off limits? Republicans will absolutely attack him in exactly that way, either directly or via dog whistles, and it's naive to imagine that they won't. Likewise, it's foolish to pretend that a dignified silence will be a sufficient response those idiotic accusations.
Sanders' supporters post hateful, vitriolic attacks on Clinton day in and day out, eagerly doing the GOPs dirty work for them, but that's ok for some reason--even on DU's front page. But when someone questions Sanders' readiness to withstand the forthcoming GOP attack, it's declared unacceptable.
And before anyone objects that the attacks on Sanders are baseless or irrelevantly personal, we should recall that Sanders' supporters have already cited Whitewater, Vince Foster & Monica Lewinsky as problems that Clinton must address.
In short, asking about a near-certain GOP tactic is absolutely not the same as calling Sanders "a commie Jew."
