14. I started school at age 6

and got my ass paddled with a board at least twice a week sometimes more by various teachers from the first year on til 7th or 8th grade when I was expelled. My mother, whipped my hiney with a switch and a belt my whole childhood til about age 13 or 14. My brother too. That's just the way it was back in the sixties here in SC in my schools.
