(46,217 posts)His nomination will fracture the repub party. Already there are folks coming out and arguing that if he gets the nomination, repub voters should hold their nose and vote for the Democratic candidate.
There will a concerted effort to make supporting Trump the most uncool thing around.
There is a simple reason that the elected repub officials endorsing him are almost all folks who are not going to be running for anything in 2016 (like Christie or Brewer) or are in totally safe seats (Sessions, who got over 90 percent of the vote in his last race).
I'm in DC and repubs here are scared shitless about a Trump candidacy. He's the third rail. Rubio supporters hate him as do Cruz supporters. And while some may hold their noses and vote for Trump, others will simply sleep in on election day or vote for Clinton based on the cover that will be given them by republican columnists like Kathleen Parker, Jennifer Rubin, and probably even George Will.
