(14,656 posts)Putting aside for this post, crowing about one candidate over the other, IMO no matter who becomes the nominee for the Democrats, it is better to not start too soon. For a number of reasons. One, there is no clear and isolated target yet for the billions of Koch money. If isolated like that, the MSM will be highlighting the perceived faults and accusations, slings and arrows, for months focused like a magnifying glass in the sun on one person, while on the other side, the story, even if dominated by one character, is still also about the race itself. This could lead to over-exposure, especially for Hillary who already has been raked over and over. And so it will seem like a yuuuuuge deal when (probably) Trump is declared King, the Republican nominee at their convention only a few months from the election. Giving him a big bump just at the right time.
Of course I also think it is very healthy for the Democratic party to be woken up to the realization that there actually still is a liberal progressive segment left after the years of abuse and being ostracized. And the internal debate in the party is good for it in order to clarify for itself just how they will define themselves going forward...no matter who wins.
