54. My Grandpa lives in a pretty nice neighborhood
Mon Mar 28, 2016, 02:16 PM
Mar 2016

it's older now but the HOA has kept up standards and it's well kept and attractive. (I am not a huge fan of HOAs but the fees here are reasonable and they do police it pretty well - if that's the kind of thing you're into. Grandpa keeps his yard up and likes when everyone else does too). (I mean, he's not a yard nazi - he won't report anyone like some folks do. But he likes the neighborhood looking nice and, frankly, it's a lot nicer than mine which has no HOA but tons of crappy rentals and a few people who care)

Grandpa has had his Obama yard signs stolen on many occasions but, more recently, we were over there having a cookout and my aunt had her car parked in the back driveway (Grandpa's house is on the point were two streets meet so his front yard is one street and his back yard is on a different street) with all her Obama stickers on it at some point during the day someone left nasty post-it notes on her car calling her a traitor and said she should be ashamed. Much like you. we were bemused and not at all sad she messed up someone's day.

We still don't know which neighbor it was but we have our suspicions and were pleasantly surprised that the number 1 suspect has put up a for sale sign. Grandpa has lived there since 1975 so he knows most of the long-time neighbors so this could only have been one of the newer ones and that's the guy next door who is selling. We won't miss them.
