6. Well here is the real context for the whole story.

King Josiah in the 7th century BCE was having a few issues with Pharaoh and was the head of a few disparate tribes So to create a nation he had a few scribes write the whole thing... that is why the bible pulls in myths from everywhere. The first person that might have existed. historians believe. is a chieftain called David. Oh and yes they did find what might have been his not so grand stables.

I read into the real history of these things a while ago. That does not mean if we (or rather when) we have another bout of antisemitism, I won't be reminded of my jewishness and why the dog whistles here on the old DU in the recent past have raised a certain level of well alarm.

That said, the real stories are far better than the myths, at least to me, and put the whole thing in far more context. So in the end it was propaganda...

By the way, Noah is a Mesopotamian myth with a grain of truth and the Song of Songs is an Egyptian poem.

They did not have laws against copy right infringement back then.

And it is still a nice story, and Hollywood's tenth commandments with Heston has a certain magic still as movie magic goes.
