(10,622 posts)Meanwhile I had a hide about a post that I thought was satire (it was that ridiculous) by saying something like, "is that you third way Manny?"
Hides can not always be avoided as they hide completely innocent and non offensive posts often these days (many of the alerters and jurists appear to resemble a cloth clad individual we know that has a unique hair cut, multiple twins and a living to make, so such can be expected).
But innocent posts that do not break the TOS do not result in banishment and so certain measures can, and are, being successfully taken as we both now know.
Hides themselves appear to mean very little these days, I have only had two in six months, but some truly nasty posters, whose posts are consistently rude and offensive and whom are posting daily, have as many as 18 hides (really, but generally among the two dozen I bothered to check now have over 8 hides. Cut that down to a dozen of those two dozen I checked and you see double digits, this is not hyperbole but rather anecdotal truth that I have seen by clicking on a few transparency pages)
We adapt as we must, and I am proud that one of my most recent adaptations has helped to identify at least some of those that are best avoided and only appear to speak from a "script".
This non-violent non-abusive method of identifying such, I believe will reduce incivility and frustration in many cases and so I am quite pleased it is working.
The last thing we need are pointless discussions that prove at best an annoying consumption of time, much like a robocall meant to sell one something all the way up to, the often nasty baiting discussions that only have the goal of finding a reason to get a good member PPR'd.
I a pleased it has worked for you and hope others will adopt such a non abusive, harmless method which has the goal of helping regular members avoid some of our daily frustrations.
