As are the counties to either side. This area voted very heavily for Obama both in 2008 and 2012. We are why Gwen Graham, daughter of Bob Graham, got into Congress, defeating a Tea Party moron, Steve Southerland.

Yes, most of North Florida and the Panhandle are red as blood, but Alachua County and Gainesville are as blue as Leon County. The Orlando area with its influx of film industry people has also turned less red than it used to be - that is why Alan Grayson has been able to get into office.

The I-4 corridor itself used to be really red but even that area is fading to purple for most of the length.
