2. 'Republicans' are utterly confused,

have been since ??? (ideas?) Many call themselves 'conservative' when they are nothing like 'conservative;' definition: 'holding to traditional attitudes and values and cautious about change or innovation.'

Today's so-called conservatives/repupublicans/tea-partiers are radicals, attached to various tangents: religious-right, racist bigots, anti-semitic bigots, anti-arab bigots, anti-muslim bigots, 'aggrieved' whites, a stew of American misery, and the republican party is stuck with them, and is likely not capable of harmonizing the mess into anything remotely productive.

I wish I were wrong.
