(82,849 posts)First off, I don't know that you could legitimately call me a Clinton supporter, except to the degree that I support practically any candidate for office on the Democratic ticket (Lyndon LaRouche would be an obvious exception). You're very good at making personal attacks and assuming things not in evidence; pointing out flaws in your logic is not "condescension," even if you'd like to think it is. Now, to the videos.
The first video is a heavily spliced bit of footage interspersed with negative power-point placards. There is no context, and it certainly doesn't show anything to me, except that Hillary Clinton campaigned hard in 2008, just like any other candidate during an open election. Cf. Gary Hart, Jesse Jackson, Paul Tsongas, etc.
The Olbermann commentary is focused on things Clinton's surrogates said during the heat of the 2008 campaign, and Clinton's failure to disavow the comments to Olbermann's satisfaction. This doesn't support your thesis, either.
Video the third briefly tries to tie Clinton's youthful work on the Goldwater campaign and graft Goldwater's stances of 1964 onto Clinton. Again, there's no direct racism voiced by Clinton, and no indication that she currently holds the racist views of 1964-era Barry Goldwater. The rest of the video doesn't feature Clinton at all, but many people voicing their opinions. Again, no direct evidence but certainly a nice stab at guilt by association from events more than 50 years ago.
The fourth video is another mash-up of excerpts from the 2008 campaign, albeit with lots of really scary imagery, Sean Hannity and Dick Morris. By the standards you've set down, I would be justified in imputing everything Hannity and Morris have said to you. By the way, the "vote white" quote in the title to the video is actually from Frank Rizzo, not Hillary Clinton. Did you watch any of these videos yourself? So far none of them support your silly accusation.
The fifth video, again from the 2008 campaign, features very short clips, a few of them showing Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton saying complimentary things about then-Senator Obama. The rest are comments by talking teevee heads talking to campaign advisors of dubious provenance.
In the sixth video, a clip from the 2008 debates, Obama is asked about comments from Louis Farrakhan supportive of his candidacy. He disavows Farrakhan, but by your lights, it would be reasonable to impute Farrakhan's statements to Obama. Again, did you watch these videos before you threw all this shit at the wall to see what would stick? It seems that none of them support your baseless thesis.
Video the seventh and eighth are again weak attempts to tie Hillary Clinton to certain aspects of Margaret Sanger's career. This is another asinine attempt at guilt by association. Neither of them show anything remotely germane to your spurious, failed argument.
As I said before, simply running a campaign against Barack Obama in 2008 doesn't qualify as racist. And if Hillary Clinton (that's who we're talking about, remember? Not Barry Goldwater, not Margaret Sanger, and certainly not the demented opinions of Sean Hannity and Dick Morris.) is such an out-and-out racist, perhaps you could take a moment to calm down and explain why President Obama then appointed her to be Secretary of State? Is Obama ignorant of this famous racism, extraordinarily forgiving, or racist himself?
Got anything else? Because you haven't carried your argument, and if this is the best you've got, you should re-evaluate your opinion if you have any integrity at all.
