I hate arguments like this, because they always presuppose some golden era, halcyon days past where everything was better. No, no. Trump is just the latest in a lumpy, bumpy road of America's constant obsession with wealth and celebrity and our puerile fascination with sex and other peoples' bodies. It's not a new thing.
The only new thing in the mix is a level of information technology that lets this long-standing American culture hit your senses 24/7.
