But I don't think it was the Clintons' idea, I think it was Trump's idea. It wasn't necessarily "a deal," it was more like a way for The Donald to pass some time, have some fun, and ensure a future stay in the Lincoln Bedroom.
Look, we know, because we have photographic proof, that the Clintons were at the Trumps' wedding, and that Bill has played golf with The Donald. What we probably don't know about is the Bohemian Grove-like romps that Bill and The Donald have shared. In many ways, those two guys are like birds of a feather. I believe that Bill Clinton is one of the few people that Trump has real, honest-to-god respect for. In The Donald's mind, most people are losers, and I think that Bill Clinton is one of the few who is not. I think Trump is probably heartily amused at the thought of his pal being the First Gentleman.
We also know that Trump was not expecting to be so clearly the front-runner. His was meant to be a protest candidacy, he expected to come in second with about 20 percent of the vote. His candidacy was simply meant to throw a monkey wrench in the works, to help strengthen Mrs. Clinton against her eventual establishment opponent. (Jeb!) Instead, he ended up destroying ALL of his opponents.
I think that was because Trump underestimated the zeitgeist. He was the only one on the right who understood it, but he underestimated it. And he's been trying to sabotage his own campaign for a while now, but the harder he tries, the stronger he gets. The man really does NOT want to be president, he was just having some fun.

This year's October Surprise will come in the form of a Donald Trump medical emergency. He will either have a heart attack, or some kind of accident. It will happen after he secures the nomination. He won't die from it, but it will be something that will ensure that he can't be elected in November.
Having a heart attack while schtupping his supermodel wife is the likeliest. This allows him to save face, show his "virility" yet make sure that he is incapacitated, but with a clear road to recovery. It might be an "accident," like on his campaign bus, but this might also hurt other people. Actually, if it did hurt other people, that would provide good cover for him. But a heart attack is more likely. That would be a bit more private, and allow for some great "Melania with tears in her eyes" photo ops.
