Nature won't miss us. EDIT: These people meant well but most of us live lives so disconnected from the natural world that we can't always know what's best for a wild animal. Also, some folks just aren't that smart.

This incident somehow reminded me of a co-worker, a nice middle-aged lady who I saw dosing a potted Prickly Pear cactus with a lot of water. (The cactus belonged to our boss.) I said something about all the water but don't recall exactly what I said. I DO recall exactly what SHE said: "It's from the desert so it needs a lot of water."
