A segment of the population will vote R, regardless of the nominee.

A segment of the population will vote against Hillary, because...Hillary.

A segment of the population pays little or no attention to politics.

A segment of the population isn't exposed to Trump on any regular basis.

The GOP will desperately try to moderate Trump by the GE. They'll mostly fail, but not entirely.

Combine those and other factors, and I think his floor is probably 40%, which would still be a massive blowout. Reagan/Mondale proportions.
