Sanders and the large numbers of his supporters who did make it more acceptable to have these protests. Also, I hate to admit the number of people who went against the establishment Reps by going for Trump instead also helps. There is now obviously people on both sides of the aisle who are not for keeping things the same way. People are not just going along with the program on either side.
