the fact that an arbitrary racial category known as 'white' people in the UK exists as a supermajority, and that the same rough racial category in the US is a simple majority ... that this contrast utterly destroys the notion that populism is ascendant globally, or even that 'as the UK goes, so goes its allies'. (White Americans and African Americans have a troubled history, but both are fundamentally part of the fabric of our American society, TOGETHER.)

Well, I think that's nonsense. If you are familiar with the history of political movements, you know that yes, countries do tend to move in the same directions politically, and particularly when looking at countries that have strong, long-term alliances.

In short, Establishment candidates and ideas are in trouble politically.
