Those EU authorities are simply blowing smoke, the fact is that the status of UK residents in regards to travel, etc. in the EU, is something that will be negotiated over the next two years, as part of the withdrawal process. We don't know at this point what it will look like but the idea that the UK is going to be some isolated, shunned third world nation as a result of Brexit is pure hyperbole. The EU needs access to the UK's economic markets and not a lot is going to change in that regard.
