5. Hot toddies and strong garlic/vegetable soup is my fixer upper

I broke a many year cycle of getting bronchitis that started when I got pneumonia while in basic training. I did the traditional route, for years, but kept getting sick, twice a year, like clockwork. I finally got fed up and went the 'self medicate' route with a strong toddy (green tea, honey, lemon, whiskey and cayenne pepper) and chicken or vegetable soup with so much garlic, it would make me sweat.

Once I went the toddy/soup route, the cycle was broken and I haven't had another bout of bronchitis in 20 years. And the best thing about it is, you can do it even while on antibiotics, and, much like chicken soup, it certainly can't hurt. Now if I even feel a hint of a cold, I start the soup and toddy routine and usually feel 100% with a day or two.

And, of course, the soup has the added benefit of keeping vampires at bay. Well, and most anyone else, truth be told.
