67. I admit I'm torn

Oct 2016

I come from the left wing of the Dem party and I have supported the Greens in the past when I lived in a liberal safe state. I want the Greens to succeed and the Dems to move left. Ideally, the GOP implodes the Dems become the new conservative party and the Greens become the new liberal party.

I have lived through Reagan, I have lived through Bush and, while I fear Trump's temperament, I also believe he would be a lame duck president from the onset. I've seen this in Minnesota when Jesse Ventura was elected. So, the fear argument doesn't work on me anymore. Really, it just makes me mad.

That said, Stein is no more qualified to be president than Trump. Senate? Sure. I'd vote for her for any office except president. Over the last few elections I've come to the conclusion that the POTUS, the most powerful position in the history of the world with nuclear codes available, that person needs have experience in public office at some level. That person needs to have some familiarity with the workings of Washington and, if possible, the workings of foreign powers.

As lovely a fantasy it is to send in an "outsider" to clean up Washington only one of two things will happen - that person will be a lame duck or that person will be run over by the legislature.

So, under these circumstances, no, I won't risk electing a completely unqualified person for POTUS. If Hillary were running against Cruz or Kasich I might vote Stein in a safe state but not if Carson or Fiorina were the candidate.

If you were in a "safe" state like CA or NY... [View all] bagelsforbreakfast Oct 2016 OP
