(151,012 posts)Surveying my block in a residential neighborhood in St. Paul, MN, I see that over half of the homes are occupied by people of color and immigrants. Only two homes are rentals, so my neighbors own their homes. Will they be like the Japanese-Americans in WWII, who were sent to internment camps and who lost everything they had built up? It is a real worry.
I had a college friend who was born in the Manzanar Camp in California. Her parents and grandparents were there, too, and lost everything while interned. Their business. Their home. Everything. She told me that her parents never really recovered from that experience. The stress, she said, killed her grandparents, who became ill while interned.
We must not let that story be repeated. We must stand for those people who are threatened by a Trump administration.
