If Stein's lawyer was indeed correct, that Stein had followed the exact letter of the law in requesting a recount, then I don't see that the Court would intervene. The Republican Attorney General not liking the idea of a recount or thinking it's too expensive do not constitute valid legal objections.
Besides, someday the Republicans might want a recount and it sets a dangerous precedent to interfere with them.
