Now she's trying to repair the damage so that her country isn't taken over by the far-right.

Many said it last year: immigration would turn Europe from left/center to right/far-right. Already Hollande and the French left are toast, and are being replaced by either Fillon or Le Pen (both right and pro-Russian). Renzi resigned in Italy and will probably be replaced by a populist, anti-Eurozone party led by Grillo (a comedian). A far-right, anti-immigrant party leads in polls in the Netherlands, and an EU referendum is probably inevitable at this point. Britain already has a right-wing party in the Tories.

The European left/centrists staked their reputations on the immigration issue and now they're going down with the ship. Populists from all over the spectrum are taking over as the moderate left struggles to find a message. It will be seen if merely banning head coverings will pacify populaces who are fed up with immigration from third world countries.
