(6,121 posts)is that when things went wrong during the 2000 election and again in 2004, we thought once stories emerged about the vote flipping that Voters saw happen and other questionable practices (tabulators with programs designed to change the votes), many people (myself included) thought that there would be an investigation into what really happened. There was much angst and discussion here on DU and other places about the truth coming out and that what happened would be fixed. Some of us had our hopes raised that maybe Bush was not re-elected after all. That there would be a REAL INVESTIGATION and that our System of government would work to fix what went wrong. But we were mistaken and our hopes were dashed.
Now we are faced again with an even bigger crisis in our electoral system. Another country (countries?) have interfered with our national election to insure that the candidate of THEIR choice is put in place. This candidate (and others in his party) is telling us to ignore the facts about this and even our elected officials who CAN DO SOMETHING seem to be slow to take this seriously. We hear a lot of lip service but so far it seems to me we will continue to hear more rhetoric and hot air about this and then like 2000 and 2004, it will all fade away. Nothing will happen to tell us the truth and get to the bottom of the extent of Russia's manipulation and hacking.
I wish I felt sure that this nightmare we've been enduring since Nov. 8th is going to be corrected but alas, I am not convinced it will happen. I have a very tiny flicker of hope, but it's not much. Anyone else feel this way?
